Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed for supplementing all service areas and administration. The skills and resources our volunteers offer allow our society to offer further support to the clients of our agency. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Literacy Programs
  • Administrative support
  • Clothing Room
  • Group Program Preparation & Clean Up
  • Fundraising
  • Research & development

Practicums

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Manitoba Inc offers practicums of up to 450 hours to students from recognized colleges and universities. We provide supported practicums suited to students pursuing the following courses of study:

  • Bachelor in social work
  • Community social service work
  • Alcohol and drug counselling
  • Women’s studies
  • Criminology
  • Accounting – CA, CGA
  • Office administration

BOARD MEMBERS – WANTED

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Manitoba is an Aboriginal non-profit, community-based agency which exists to address the unique needs of women in the provincial and federal justice system.

EFSM is looking for individuals who are committed to helping all Manitoba’s women, female youth, female seniors, and those with special needs through sound leadership and fulfilling our vision – ‘to assist women and girls who are involved in the criminal justice system’. As a candidate, you are a proactive decision maker, have sound judgment, and a willingness to contribute to your community. Individuals with skills in the following areas are being sought;

  • Legal
  • Fund Raising
  • Communications
  • Governance
  • Information Technology

In order to reflect the diverse nature of our community, the board encourages application from all residents. As a member of the Board team, your role will be to assist in leading the organization in fulfilling its mission. There is a time commitment expectation of between 4 – 6 hours per month to prepare for and attend meetings, participate on sub committee’s, and engage in other Board business. Traditionally, our Board meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, from 5:30 -7:00 p.m.

Our Board utilizes a governance model of oversight. As a Board Member, you will be actively involved in directing the organization’s mission and overall strategy. You will contribute to and foster relationships to sustain the organizations financial health. You will exercise sound judgment and advocate effectively for the organization and build support within the community.
